We are worthy of it!

I have many nostalgic memories of my school, but more specifically of one day when although I used to get up very early ,get myself ready for school as soon as possible but leave home with bunch of excitement(which was unusual) and to be specified without my school bag! Even now I am unable to discover what suddenly flew within me beholding the sights of people walking around in the town on this day, everyone seemed to be more lively, energetic and fresh. Being a kid it always took me on a positive ride of new day, delivering those mesmerizing vibes everywhere. When getting back to home from school, the most usual sight was of my mommy switching on DD-National and watching our Prime Minister hosting the tricolor. And I used to sit beside her, feeling so lot like a citizen-little who have done something truly responsible. Its seriously unanswerable why this day become so special not just to me but almost each of my countryman. Automatically the National Anthem played so profoundly acted on each one of us just like we had an instant energy drink! The National Flag, badges on our school uniform, the pictures of our national heroes, the patriotic song dedicated to our freedom fighters used to be the trademark of my Independence day picture. So lot energizing and so much exciting used to be school wala Independence day! Really unforgettable. But now the question is how much my perception has been changed when I am out of school and no more a citizen-little but rather a complete grown up responsible citizen. I remember, watching our kiddo excitement about Independence day my mom always used to tell us that our responsibility is not limited to just this very day. Celebrating Independence day is glorifying the amazing efforts of all those great people who have given us something which is NOT IDENTIFIED UNLESS IT IS ABSENT! That is our freedom.. Similar to the breath but hardly noticed. To be true I never got the exact meaning of that sentence at that time but now as I consider me and each of my friend capable of analyzing the situations around them, I would request each one to think hard over the above. I wonder what these souls, our freedom fighters, must have had in their mind when they conceptualized the word ‘freedom’. Was it just a freedom from the British-rule? I think No... To make our country free from the foreign rule was obviously their dream but guys give a thought to this, when at that time some of our countrymen were striving hard, very hard to make my motherland free, there were some others who had a friendly hand-mix with those who kept India in bonds. Why was this difference? Was it that the later group of people didn’t consider Independence a greater achievement than their personal benefits, their personal pocket-fillings? When now I discuss with people around me the various abstract dimensions of life for eg. Happiness or satisfaction.. I hear that it varies person to person, yes agreed but surely it must not be in the harm of others.
While writing this, just a thought passed by, and kept me thinking if the magnitude of people involved in the later group(as mentioned above)is increasing. Are we all just becoming so self-centered that we have taken our Country, its resources for granted? Are we just those parasite feeding over them. I obviously know that not each one is required to forefront the border but even while living and tasting this fruit of freedom I have my humble and true responsibilities to contribute at my levels. But what I got upon observing is that everyone knows what is to be done and what they have to do..but sadly very few think of doing it! Still our most amount of time is getting wasted on negative notes, everyday reading about corruption, terror-attacks, rape, robbery! And a midst this all stupidly we are crunching heads on secularism issue! While reading the preamble printed on almost every textbook, I had that proud feeling of my land becoming own-home for every type of human being. Are these things meaningful for just writing purpose? Can’t I as an individual keep my personal faith and believes and still be friendly with other humans? When it comes to giving respect, should I not once remind myself that I belong to that holy land where respect and dignity of woman is equal to million treasures? When I enjoy the resources of my nation should I not keep in mind that I am answerable to the coming generation and a responsible hand in making this nation a moral place for their survival! Hope everybody give at least a minute to think about it.
There lies a goodwill in conscious of each one of us, the challenge is to wake it up. May we make the sacrifice of our national heroes fruitful because they are worthy of it and make this country a better and peaceful place to live, because I believe my land is worthy of it moreover we are worthy of it.
Wishing all of you a Happy Independence Day. :)

  1. Well there is complete change in the scenario of what independence and republic day meant for us in school times to what it is now,it has transformed from the most important day of our school to just being a mere holiday when few patriotic songs are sung and people try to create an illusion of being patriotic
